Celebrating the Birth Anniversary
National Engineers’ Day is observed on 15 September, commemorating the birth of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya (15 September 1861). Renowned for modernising Mysore, Visvesvaraya spearheaded landmark ventures such as the Krishna Raja Sagara Dam and advanced flood‑control systems across the country.
In recognition of his monumental contributions, the Government of India conferred the Bharat Ratna on Visvesvaraya in 1955. The annual observance on 15 September honors his legacy and the continued excellence of Indian engineers.
