Lucknow – Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated a fleet of 87 high‑tech interceptor vehicles at Lok Bhavan today, signalling a decisive step toward a digitally empowered police force in Uttar Pradesh. The mixed batch of four‑wheelers and two‑wheelers is expected to tighten traffic monitoring, enhance road‑safety protocols and reinforce law‑enforcement presence across the state.
A New Era of Policing
Addressing officials and media representatives, the CM traced the evolution of law and order since his 2017 mandate, stressing the administration’s resolve to overhaul police operations with cutting‑edge technology. He pointed to the police commissionerate model as a structural backbone that demands meticulous planning, bold leadership and modern tools to foster a secure environment for development and civic life.
Tech‑Enabled Interceptor Fleet
Each newly‑deployed interceptor is fitted with sophisticated surveillance kits, GPS‑linked tracking and real‑time communication systems. The vehicles will patrol busy arterial roads, congested junctions and other high‑risk zones, feeding live data directly to Integrated Command and Control Centres.
Adityanath also referenced the broader Safe City programme, noting that several districts now operate command centres that support both preventive patrols and investigative efforts.
Recognising Bravery and Service
The ceremony included a medal presentation for police personnel who have shown exceptional dedication. Posthumously, the late STF Inspector Sunil Kumar Singh was awarded the Kirti Chakra for his gallantry, with his family receiving the honor on his behalf.
The event also marked the launch of former DGP Prakash Singh’s memoir Sangharsh, a candid chronicle of police reforms and his decades‑long career on the force.
Road‑Safety Remains Paramount
Speaking on the persistent challenge of road fatalities, the chief minister underscored that technology‑driven enforcement, coupled with vigilant monitoring, is vital to curbing deaths on the highways. Deploying the 87 interceptors forms a cornerstone of the state’s broader strategy to modernise traffic management and safeguard commuters.
Through these initiatives, Uttar Pradesh aims to set a benchmark for contemporary policing, blending traditional valor with digital precision.
